3 Steps to Better Time Management

We are all given the same 24 hours in each day. It is up to us to decide how we use this commodity called time. I will be honest, I am not an organized person. It doesn't come easy to me and it is something that I have to work on daily. Not long ago, I found myself wandering through my day, unfocused and lacking productivity. Yikes! That just wasn't going to cut it as a mom, wife, and business owner. I had to figure this time management thing out quick! I did some research and developed a system that actually works for me. Now I am much more focused and getting tons more accomplished each and every day.

"Failing to plan is planning to fail."

Here are the 3 steps I take to make things happen!

1. Plan out your month.

At the beginning of each month, I sit down with my calendar and I organize and write down all family and business events/meetings/trips. Remember to make your family time a priority and schedule in rest for yourself. Time to recharge is just as important as setting goals for your month.

2. Plan out your upcoming week on Sunday evening.

This is so key! Each Sunday evening, I sit down and transfer everything from my monthly calendar for the upcoming week to my week at a glance spread. I plug in all events and meetings, add in family time, and then designate chucks of time that I can work on my business. As things come up in the week, if there is a spot for it great. If not, it doesn't get done. By completing this task on Sunday evening, I feel more organized and prepared for the upcoming week. On the weeks that I fail to do this, I see a large drop in my productivity, lack of focus, and I find myself stumbling through my week.

3. Create a to do list each night for the following day.

Each night, I take about five minutes and write out my daily actions for the next day. This list includes everything from working out, laundry, grocery shopping, and business tasks and meetings. When I go to bed with a clear head about what my day will look like tomorrow, I rest better and wake up with a plan of action. My productivity shoots through the roof when I make this a priority!

Where you put your focus is where you will see fruit. If you are logging in the Netflix series you are currently watching then don't plan to plan. But if you desire a more productive, fulfilled life I encourage you to make the time to get organized with your schedule and manage your time.
